"We are looking forward to the implementation of the project, which is of great importance for Hungary". With these words, Dr. János Kálman, representative of the government commissioner, presented the project. "The university will support the project as best as possible," added Dean Prof. Dr. Eva Szalka.
Hubert Schulte-Kemper, CEO of FAKT AG, sees this outstanding project on a par with projects from large companies such as Daimler or Audi in Hungary. He emphasized that despite VIP status, he attaches great importance to good cooperation with the two municipalities Hegyeshalom and Bezenye. It is particularly noteworthy that one of the largest onshore fish farms will be created. In addition, a "comprehensive system for the safe overnight stay of truck and mobile home drivers will be established," says Schulte-Kemper. Applications for funding for an investment volume of more than 600 million euros have been submitted.
Károly Zetkó from cooperation partner E.ON Hungária gave a first insights into the plans for an integrated and sustainable energy supply concept for the location.
With the Széchenyi University an intensive, reciprocal cooperation has been agreed in research, teaching and training in the areas of agricultural economics, soil science, crop production, crop protection, food processing, waste management and aquaculture. Research projects are planned which relate to the landmark project and which can be carried out as part of a study or final thesis. This enables students to apply their theoretical knowledge directly to current and specific questions in professional practice. Guest lectures by FAKT AG will also be part of the future cooperation. "We look forward to an intensive and good cooperation," said Prof. Dr. Molnar, Szechenyi University.
The cooperation also facilitates the transfer of teaching and research between the university and FAKT AG. This also includes the joint development of academic further training offers. The collaboration is also valuable for orientation in the lecture business. Current and future topics and trends can be taken up and included in the curriculum, so that the current teaching is based on the needs of the industry.
Both FAKT AG and the Széchenyi University share the view that Hungary and its location in the heart of Europe, as well as its proximity to attractive sales markets, the strong political emphasis on the agricultural sector, the valuable freshwater reserves, the highly qualified workforce and the competitive wage levels form an ideal basis for a modern, internationally competitive location for the production, processing and distribution of agricultural products.
A joint agreement was signed with the municipalities of Hegyeshalom and Bezenye to conclude a settlement design contract that sets a jointly agreed framework for the cooperation in the spatial planning process. The two mayors László Szöke and Dr. Erika Marcus are very positive about the trustful cooperation with FAKT AG and the resulting advantages for everyone involved in the project.
"I am delighted that we were able to put together an ambitious cooperation package with our Hungarian partners in so many different areas. With this project we want to help shape Hungarian agricultural policy. In terms of personnel, the FAKT Group will therefore increase staffing significantly as the project progresses” says Schulte-Kemper.
With its cooperation partners E.ON, KÉSZ and Landgard, the Essen-based company FAKT AG wants to realize a sustainable agricultural and economic center with a European dimension in Hungary. The project manager FAKT AG is planning a combination of agriculture, logistics and housing on an area of almost 500 soccer fields. E.ON will develop, implement and operate the climate-friendly energy infrastructure for electricity, heating and cooling for this major project in the border triangle of Hungary-Austria-Slovakia.
The focal points of the landmark project are greenhouse complexes for the year-round cultivation of peppers, tomatoes, eggplants or kitchen herbs. Europe's largest onshore fish farm and the industrial processing of locally produced products, as well as increasing the added value of the entire Hungarian agriculture, including cold stores and logistics center, are further building blocks of the economic concept. In addition, a modern, family-friendly residential area with a kindergarten, elementary school, shopping center and hotel and conference center is to be created.
